Hollow polycarbonate sheets, also known as PC hollow sheets, are becoming increasingly popular across various industries due to their excellent properties. Polycarbonate (PC) is a high – strength thermoplastic resin with carbonate groups in its molecular chain. It is mainly synthesized through the melt trans – esterification method of bisphenol A and diphenyl carbonate. The following are the main features of these sheets:
1. Light Transmittance
These sheets have a light transmittance of about 90%.
This characteristic makes them an ideal choice for applications that require natural light, such as greenhouses and building facades.
2. Impact Resistance
These sheets have extremely high impact resistance, being 200 times stronger than glass. This allows them to better withstand external forces.
They can be used for carports, sound – proof and safety barriers on highways, and industrial safety baffles.
3. Flame Retardancy
PC hollow sheets are flame – retardant and meet the B1 – level flame – retardant standard.
They self – extinguish when away from the fire source and do not produce toxic gases during combustion, ensuring safety in use.
4. Temperature Adaptability
They have a wide operating temperature range from – 40°C to + 135°C, suitable for various environmental conditions.
They can be used for thermal insulation in warehouses and cold storage facilities to maintain a stable indoor temperature. They can also be used as covering materials for solar panels, able to withstand high temperatures without deformation.
