StudyRemote Reports 30,000 Student Milestone for Anki Remote Study Device

Bluetooth remote study tool gains adoption among medical and healthcare students as institutions expand classroom use.

StudyRemote announced a study that more than 30,000 medical, nursing, dental, physician assistant, undergraduate, and other students are now using its Anki Remote, a Bluetooth device designed to help students advance digital flashcards without touching a keyboard, phone, or tablet during study sessions.

The milestone reflects continued adoption of dedicated study tools among students who rely on Anki, a widely used spaced-repetition flashcard platform for memorizing large volumes of information. While artificial intelligence continues to shape many areas of education technology, many healthcare students continue to use evidence-based memorization methods supported by spaced repetition.

According to published research, 94% of surveyed medical students reported using Anki as part of their study routine. As demand for more efficient study workflows has grown, students have increasingly adopted accessories designed to complement their existing learning methods.

StudyRemote recently completed an effectiveness study involving 209 Anki Remote users from 146 educational institutions, with approximately two-thirds of participants enrolled in medical programs. According to the findings, participants reviewed 94% more flashcards per day after using the device, increasing from an average of 245 to 475 cards daily while reducing average review time per card from 27.8 seconds to 14.9 seconds. Participants also reported a median 20% improvement in information retention and a median 10% increase in exam scores.

Institutional adoption has also expanded. Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine and Florida State University College of Medicine have purchased the Anki Remote for incoming medical school classes across multiple academic years, reflecting broader interest in providing students with dedicated study tools.

“I created the Anki Remote while I was in medical school because I wanted a faster and more focused way to study,” said Harsh Moolani, MD, founder of StudyRemote and a neurology resident at NYU. “Seeing students and medical schools adopt it has been incredibly rewarding, and it’s meaningful to support future healthcare professionals with a tool built from firsthand experience.”

StudyRemote says the continued growth of the Anki Remote demonstrates sustained demand for practical learning tools that complement established study techniques rather than replace them. The device is currently available for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and Android users through the company’s website.
