Judy Torres, World Renowned Singer, Radio Personality, Actress, Playwright, Author, TEDx Speaker, Certified Master Life Coach and Philanthropist, was recently chosen to receive the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award in Freestyle Music for 2024 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for her outstanding leadership, dedication and passion to the music industry!

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in and of itself, only a few select members are chosen for the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. With over three decades in the music industry, Judy Torres is a determined, committed, and professional performer. Bestowed with the title “Queen of Freestyle” by her fans, she launched two studio albums, Love Story and My Soul, under Profile Records. These albums produced several popular singles that received extensive airplay on radio stations across the country, such as No Reason To Cry and Come Into My Arms. Since 2006, she has published many popular tracks, such as Faithfully, Stay, Hell No, Beautiful Life, and in 2022, Judy debuted her salsa EP, Aléjate. Judy has also shown her talents in renowned venues like Radio City Music Hall and Madison Square Garden. Torres has performed with renowned musicians such as Gladys Knight, Lionel Richie, Tito Puente, Jerry Rivera, Deborah Cox, and Taylor Dayne.

For more than twenty years, she has been a popular radio host on iHeart Media’s 103.5 FM station in New York, WKTU. Judy has experience on stage as Aunt Toni Anne in the enduring Off-Broadway production of My Big Gay Italian Wedding. She recently starred in movies, including Elliott Loves, which aired on HBO Latino. She also landed her first supporting part as Dawn in the movie “Fists of Love,” which won the Best Family Drama award at the NYC Film Festival. She secured her first TV role as Mimi Martinez on the popular CBS drama Blue Bloods last year. Judy has been working as a certified master life coach in her free time for the last five years as a way to give back.

NO REASON TO CRY is a musical based on the life of Judy Torres. Torres, who was born and raised in the Bronx, shares her journey of overcoming financial, social, and physical challenges to achieve her goal of being a professional singer. Her relentless dedication and enthusiasm led to her securing a record contract in 1987 despite facing budget limitations. She went on to pioneer a new type of 80s music known as Freestyle. Her first album, NO REASON TO CRY, brought her initial recognition and wealth, and she sold out shows at renowned locations. No one was aware of her concurrent battles with bullying, unsuccessful romances, an incurable medical diagnosis, and lifelong despair.

Ms. Torres recounts her challenges via song, revealing the intimate and profound reality of her experiences. Ironically, her music and devoted fans played a crucial role in saving her life. Today, she dedicates her time to giving back to the community by performing at various fundraising events.

Throughout her illustrious career, Ms. Judy Torres has received many awards and accolades and has been recognized worldwide for her accomplishments. She has received accolades such as the “Outstanding Achievement in Music” award from the New York City Council. This year, she will be considered for Empowered Woman of the Year along with an interview with T.I.P. magazine. She will be honored for The Lifetime Achievement Award in Freestyle Music 2024.at IAOTP’s Annual Awards Gala this December at the magnificent  Opryland Hotel in Nashville and will be featured on the famous Nasdaq billboard in NYC during Fashion week.

Beyond her musical career, Judy Torres is actively involved in philanthropic endeavors. She supports various charitable organizations and uses her platform to raise awareness about important social issues.
