Sept. 10, 2026 Peraso Inc. (NASDAQ: PRSO) is positioning its 60GHz millimeter-wave (mmWave) technology at the intersection of military autonomy, stealth communications, UAVs and Edge AI as the U.S. military accelerates the transition of autonomous systems from testing toward operational deployment.
That transition was reinforced by autonomous vehicle developer Overland AI, which secured a $20 million APFIT production award to produce autonomous ground vehicles supporting the U.S. Marine Corps’ Marine Air Defense Integrated System (MADIS). Peraso’s 60GHz mmWave architecture takes a different approach by using highly directional beamforming rather than broadly radiating signals. Peraso has already established an initial defense foothold. Its 60GHz technology was selected by Israeli defense contractor InTACT for a military drone Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) system, followed by an initial limited-production shipment of Peraso modules.
That provides an important distinction for the PRSO story: military applications are no longer solely conceptual. Peraso has moved from demonstrating the potential of 60GHz technology toward initial defense production and a dedicated product targeting the broader autonomous-systems market.
Military Autonomy Expands the PRSO Opportunity
The accelerating deployment of autonomous military vehicles could create opportunities throughout the underlying technology stack—not only for vehicle manufacturers and autonomy-software developers, but also for companies providing the communications infrastructure connecting vehicles, sensors, operators and tactical networks.
For Peraso, that represents a potentially significant expansion beyond traditional fixed wireless applications into military robotics, tactical drones, autonomous ground vehicles, Edge AI and next-generation battlefield communications.
Execution remains critical. Peraso must convert evaluations and defense interest into additional design wins, production orders and recurring revenue. But as the Pentagon pushes autonomous systems toward operational deployment, demand for stealthier, faster and more resilient tactical communications could become an increasingly important part of the defense technology market.
