Margaret Liu Collins was born in Chongqing, China, and raised in Hong Kong, where she attended St. Stephen’s Girls’ College. She later earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Collins initially worked as a science teacher before founding Liu Realty, Inc. and Liu International Management LLC. Beyond her business achievements, she has served on numerous nonprofit boards, including the University of California, Berkeley, Grace Cathedral and the San Francisco Symphony. Her philanthropic contributions include the T.O. Liu Memorial Fellowship at UC Berkeley, a scholarship for students from single-parent families, and two endowed chairs in neuroscience at UCSF. In 2011, San Francisco Business Times named her one of the “150 Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business.”
