Al & Co transforms a Marrickville golf studio into a warm, technology-led clubhouse built for play, connection and a distinctly modern golf experience.

Sydney, NSW – August 30, 2026 – Al & Co Haus of Design has completed the interior design of Scratch Golf Studio in Marrickville, creating a contemporary urban golf venue that combines traditional clubhouse character with advanced indoor golf technology.

Commercial-Interior-Designers-in-Sydney

Located at 47 Sydney Street, Marrickville, Scratch Golf Studio features five simulator bays equipped with TrackMan iO technology, a central clubhouse-style lounge and bar, and Australia’s first PuttView M16 Moving Series putting green. Scratch also provides 24/7 access for members.

The project adds a new leisure and social destination to Sydney’s Inner West while demonstrating how commercial interior design in Marrickville can bring technology, hospitality and recreation together within one cohesive environment.

Rather than giving the studio the appearance of a conventional simulator facility, Al & Co drew on the character of a traditional English golf clubhouse. Rich timber panelling, brickwork, leather seating, stone surfaces and curated golf memorabilia establish warmth and familiarity, while a black-and-white checkered floor and central bar reinforce the clubhouse influence. Advanced golf technology is integrated into the setting rather than becoming the sole visual focus.

Allan Dias, Owner and Creative Director of Al & Co Haus of Design said, “The brief gave us an opportunity to explore the contrast between the heritage of golf and the technology changing how the game can now be experienced indoors. We didn’t want Scratch to feel like a room filled with screens. The clubhouse, bar, material palette and seating needed to create a place where people could stay, socialise and feel connected to golf culture, while the technology remained intuitive and fully integrated into the experience.”

A defining feature is the PuttView M16 Moving Series. Scratch Golf Studio states that it is the first and only Australian facility with this system. Unlike a static putting surface, the technology can alter the green’s slope, project putting lines using augmented reality and provide real-time feedback. The M16 can simulate slopes of up to 3% uphill or downhill and 5% left or right, allowing golfers to practise a wide range of putting conditions.

The project reflects Al & Co’s broader approach as commercial interior designers in Sydney, where operational requirements, materials, lighting, furniture and customer experience are considered as part of the same design process. The design studio has more than a decade of experience across commercial, hospitality, workplace, retail and residential projects.

“Projects like Scratch show why commercial interiors increasingly need to do more than perform one function,” Dias added. “This is a golf training environment, but it is also a social venue and clubhouse. Our role was to make those uses feel natural together, from the circulation around the simulator bays to the bar, lighting, seating and material selections. The result needed to work operationally while still giving Scratch an identity people would remember.”

Al & Co’s interior designers in Sydney has a rich portfolio spanning restaurants, workplaces, retail environments, showrooms and specialist commercial spaces.
